Joyce Heater's
"Images of England - Brighton College"

Signed - £12.99
On behalf of the Old Brightonians, Joyce Heater (College Archivist) has compiled a fascinating book of over 200 old photographs showing the development of the college over the years.

Ann Widdicombe's "An Act of Treachery"
Hardback (signed) - £14.99
Catherine Dessin, a young French girl living in Paris during the occupation, falls for an older, married German officer. The novel examines the tensions this causes within her family of patriots and resistance workers. Meanwhile Klaus, the German officer, who is Oxford educated and a professed Anglophile, faces his own moral dilemma as he comes to realise, through his love for Catherine and a tragedy in his own family, the true nature of the regime he is serving.

Ann Widdicombe's "The Clematis Tree"
Hardback (signed) - £14.99
Mark and Claire and their families are celebrating daughter Pippa's christening in the back garden of their substantial Surrey house.
Everything's going swimmingly: their four-year-old son Jeremy is playing with almost-four-year-old Michael and arguing with his dad about whether he can call next door's dog, Rags, through the hole in the hedge.
Then the white rabbit appears--an escaped pet--and Jeremy chases it. But instead of leading Jeremy down a rabbit hole, like Alice, into a topsy-turvy world of mad hatters, petulant queens and hookah-smoking caterpillars, the rabbit careers straight out onto the road. Jeremy follows--"there was no 'don't' to cover the present situation even if he had not been recklessly intent on the pursuit"--running headlong into a red sports car being driven at 60 miles an hour by a young man who had had too much to drink.
Politician Ann Widdecombe's first novel is a deeply serious investigation of the effects of tragedy on nuclear and extended families, and an occasionally didactic and unfashionable paean to faith and duty. (Lisa Gee)

Ann Widdicombe's "Father Figure"
Hardback (signed) - £14.99
Anne Widdecombe has demonstrated a great understanding of the personal trauma suffered by a father who has had his family torn away from him by the unilateral actions of his wife of over ten years. The story follows father of two, Jason Kirk, as he tries to deal with his separation, pending divorce, and maintain his role as father to his two young children. The story deals with the very real emotions of a man whose whole purpose for living has been taken away, and how the single-minded actions of his wife allow the children's relationship with their father to be seriously jeopardised, by cruel tricks and eventually geographic distance. Miss Widdecombe has effectively represented the tragic experience of many fathers, and their children, and this book hits many a sensitive spot for those who have or are living this family nightmare.
