I got married in '81 to Helena Stolarski, who was a Physio at St. Thomas' Hospital, both of our Employers graciously allowed us to have 4 days off for wedding and Honeymoon - generous in those days, so we had a 5 week Honeymoon in December that year. I dragged Helena through India, Malaysia, and then onto Australia for Christmas with my parents who had retired here. Our Son (Benjamin Jozef - BJ for all his life) was born in '82 in Canberra Australia. It really caught us out as we had just bought a big house and with 2 of us working we were looking forward to a grand life. however these little things are sent to try one

After finishing at BC, I went onto a 5 year traineeship finishing in '82, with the Savoy Hotel Group and then started to travel.

The first stop was Australia and we lived in Canberra, Sydney, Ayres Rock, Port Douglas and Darwin. The moves were all with the Sheraton Hotel Group as part of a pre-opening team so in the end I had moved up the rung a touch at the end of that 5 year stint. We also became Australian Citizens and still have the joy of dual nationality.

In '87 we were posted back to UK and ended up carrying out doing openings for small Hotels and larger ones and we all lived in Holland Park, the good old days when hotels gave you great accommodation.

Another move to the UAE and from there back to UK, then onto the Bahamas, Zambia, where I met up with another OBA, I was coaching the Zambian Water Polo team & there he was. I have now forgotten his name but he & his brother really made our Water Polo Team invincible.

Our final stop was Israel. That was a treat as we were there for the Gulf War.

In '92 I was advised by "She who must be obeyed" that enough moving was enough and she wanted to come home to Australia, so we came. My itchy feet allowed me one more overseas posting working for Horwath Asia Pacific in Hong Kong for 18 months and it was worth it as we were there for the handover.

Over the last 2 years I have met up with an old Master, John Dakin, who was there on exchange from OZ, when Mr. Blackshaw had his final year as Headmaster. John's his youngest son was baptised in the College Chapel.

Life has settled slightly and whilst bordering on middle age (whom am I kidding) we have elected to go into semi-retirement so have bought a nice Edwardian Hotel in Leeton, New South Wales recently and will move there in the next 8 weeks. The only major event on the horizon is that next year is our Silver Wedding Anniversary in September. Actually we are also being very lazy as our Son is now a lawyer with Clayton Utz and as he is already earning a ton of motza, we have advised him that he is our pension plan!!

As I was looking at the dates when a group of us were at Brighton that were great at "socialising" & I am wondering if we can find enough of the crowd to arrange a 30 year reunion in '07. Sounds like miles away but not really and maybe instead of having it in UK we could have it in Europe somewhere, I am certain one of us can get a great Hotel for next to nothing - this gives lots of time to arrange for hair transplants, liposuction and any other necessary cosmetic adjustments to ensure we look our best!!!
