Brighton College pupils achieved more than 500 A* and As at ‘A’ level, securing some of the best results in the country:
We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Phyllida Stewart-Roberts on August 12th, 2016. Phyllida was a great supporter of the College and friend of the Old Brightonians, and devoted most of her life to voluntary public service, notably as an ambassador for St John Ambulance and as a popular Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex.
"The impact on the mood of my students is palpable. Almost all of those I have spoken to expressed sadness and surprise at the decision"
Dear Old Brightonians, We are trying to find out the names of old 1st team captains for rugby, football and cricket in order to find out which houses they belonged to at school. Their names will be put up on honours boards in their houses along with the year in which they captained the team.
On Friday 17th June we gathered to remember the 976 Old Brightonians who served in the Great War and in particular the 149 who died, never to return.
Dear Old Brightonians,
With 505 grades at A* or A, 117 at grade B, 20 at grade C and 2 at grade D, our delightful outgoing Upper Sixth pupils are today celebrating a stellar end to their time here. Remarkably, 110 sixth formers secured A* and A grades in every single subject, with at least a dozen really wonderful characters pushing up from D grade predictions a year ago to a terrific set of B grades today.
The Entrepreneurship Programme has been running at the College with great success for a number of years. We have been delighted with the support that many alumni have lent to the programme and so we thought it would be interesting to have a look at how many alumni are currently involved in a business venture of their own, or are planning to be in the future. We have therefore put together a quick survey and would be grateful if you could take a few minutes to answer some of our questions.
A warm welcome to our newest members of the Old Brightonians; our leavers of 2016.
On Thursday 30th June we celebrated at the College with a service for our leavers, and after the traditional leavers photographs on the lawn the College then celebrated with a Graduation Ceremony for Upper 6th Leavers.
We are delighted to welcome the leavers of Brighton College Abu Dhabi to the Old Brightonians this year.
The phrase "one picture is worth a thousand words" suggests that an image can more lucidly communicate a complex idea or experience. Perhaps overused, the idiom has lost some resonance over the years. However, I would argue my experiences in recent weeks, while searching for images linked to our roll of honour, have brought home the truth behind the phrase. In fact, three photographs had such a profound emotional impact, I felt the need to share them here.
If you are planning a visit to Brighton and would like a tour of the College and your old House, it is much better to contact us first so that we can be prepared for your arrival and have the time to show you around properly.
We are always delighted to see OBs back at the College but it can be disappointing for both you and us if we cannot allocate enough time to your visit due to other commitments. These days we are governed by strict health and safety laws, safeguarding and security measures which mean that visitors have to be accompanied around the campus.
These rules apply as much in the holidays as in term time as the College has various commercial lettings involving large numbers of children. It is a frustrating situation for all of us when you are not able to see all that you want to, and we would appreciate your consideration in helping us make it easier for you.
Please telephone Angelina in the OB office to let us know when you would like to visit on 01273 704 226.
The Development and Alumni Relations Office's primary role is to support the Head Master and Governors in realising the long-term plans of the school, by raising non-fee income, and by building a network of strong relationships among parents, staff, Old Brightonians and other friends and supporters.
