"I visited my Dad in Christchurch New Zealand this last Christmas and ran into an OB in Akaroa, NZ. I didn't write his name down and haven't a clue how to get in touch with him. Are there any Old brighonians out there that might be able to help me contact him? What happened was that I asked a guy walking by our ground floor suite to take a picture of a couple of friends and myself. The OB in the pic was the guy! It wasn't until we happened to cross paths again later in the day at a British monument on a hill that my friend said, "Dude, that guy's from Brighton!" We took the pic and I forgot his name!
Thanks in anticipation..."

This is a recent pic of Michael and his daughter at her Graduation Party.
Michael recently sent in a terrific old picture of OBs in Southern France in the Summer of 1975... look out for that in the "Memory lane" gallery sometime soon! |

It is with a certain amount of nervous pride that the Association brings news of a new film written by OB Robin Hill (H. 1987-89).
"Down Terrace" is the story of a small crime family marking their decline with one final, violent blow out. Nominated for Raindance’s Best British Film award and already confirmed for Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas, Down Terrace reboots the genre with a brilliantly bizarre blend of kitchen sink realism, broad swathes of black comedy and a body count befitting a slasher flick.

Old Brightonian, Rupert Wilkinson (H. 2005-09) has just completed a 510K bike ride across South West France in aid of "African Promise", and to date has raised well over £1000.00 for this tiny charity, which aims to improve primary schools in Kenya.
Rupert spent four months working in various parts of Kenya from October 2009 until February this year, as a volunteer for 'African & Asia Venture'. Whilst building school classrooms in Kasigau he met the founder and ex 'AV', twenty-four year old Charles Coldman and saw, first hand, just how much Charles has improved the learning conditions of many young village children.

On Saturday night (May 15th 2010) I will be taking part in the Moon Walk in memory of my wonderful sister Penny Lloyd, nee Allen (F. 1979-81) who died of breast cancer aged 45 just over a year ago.
If you can spare a fiver to help raise money to fight this terrible disease it will be much appreciated and will make all the blisters worthwhile. Dig deep in those pockets and enjoy your warm beds as I brave those 26 miles in the freezing May 2010 weather!

Nigel writes: "I first joined the Liberal Party in 1987 while still at school. My father was involved in running a local community centre and this brought us into contact with the local Liberal-run Adur council. I was particularly attracted by their pioneering 'green' ideas and they introduced a green box recycling scheme long before other councils realised the importance of recycling waste to reduce landfill. I was signed up by our local Liberal councillors and delivered my first FOCUS leaflets for my history teacher who was a Liberal/SDP Alliance candidate in Brighton.
