Mike Banner (A 1972-77)
I've lived in Bath since I got married in 1985. Ann and I have two sons aged 12 and 8. I work in Bristol for Norwich Union doing IT. Currently I am treasurer of a local Anglican church - this has been very time consuming so I'll give it up in the next six months - counting the days! You may be amazed to learn that I still have some hair left! I enjoy playing football twice a week and listening to indie music (anything with guitars, Blur espercially).
It would be great to hear from anyone of approximately similar vintage. |

David Gold (BCJS 83-86 / School House 86-91)
I am one of 20 people invited to contribute a chapter to a new book, A Blue Tomorrow : New Visions from Modern Conservatives which has been published by Politicos Publishing and priced at £7:99 - my contribution looks at how the Party can be more inclusive rather than merely tolerant and covers race relations, gay rights, women in politics and young people.
The overriding conclusion is that politicians must stop trying to moralise and shouldn't use taxation to steer people towards a lifestyle they would prefer others to live.
I will be donating a copy to the Brighton College Politics Department! |

|
Ewen Gallagher (H/S. 1986-91)
After leaving the School in '91 I must admit that I have totally lost touch.
First off my family moved from France (Paris) to Switzerland (Vevey), while I went off to start my University degree up in Newcastle Upon Tyne in Genetics. Subsequently I took a degree in immunology at the University of Birmingham before finally doing my doctorate in the University of Nottingham. I now have a job as a research fellow in the Department of Pharmacology in the University of Texas Southwestern Medical center at Dallas. It's an amazing place with three Nobel laureates, including Al Gilman of my own department. The pace of life in the States is very different from that of Brighton, but I must admit that I am enjoying it.
Anyway I am unmarried, and find it hard to take any time off. I have been living in Dallas for getting on two years now.

Andy Rose (B. 1973-76)
Hello, Just found the OBA website and nostalgia gripped me!!
Although I don't think I have ever formally been a member, I did play
a few games of cricket for the OBA in the early 80's with Jeff Baily, who
I knew at school. It wasn't "cool" to join when I left in the 70's!!!!!
However, having seen a few old faces on the website I would love to join
and catch up on some memories. I would love to receive details of the
association and add my name to the members database.

to India with the College cricket team
in 1982-3. He thanks the influence of
the Geography team of the time ( Lowe,
Spencer and Hanson) for pointing him in
the right direction! Matt and family
live in Ham, Surrey and would love to

comparison. Due to join any airline

down south.
Thanks to all who have set
up this Web Site and are doing so much
to keep the OBs going!

James Brenan (S 1967-77)
James says hi to all his contemporaries and be in touch on Jsbsize12@aol.com if you share or need any of my
interests: arguing for money (a.k.a. litigation - I am risk averse, thorough
and get to the point quickly), jazz/funk/gospel/blues, Chelsea, Dominica,
the Gorge of Saklikent, legal public policy issues, looking out for Julie
Burchill when I visit Brighton (so I can I roll up my copy of The Guardian
Weekend and shove it somewhere), meeting up with old friends and having a
good laugh/cry/recriminate/commiserate/jactitate (prize of a melting Penguin
biscuit if you know what that means).
That's all folks...

After leaving BC I read Actuarial
Science at City University, working in
the Financial Services industry for 5
years. I then decided on a change doing
a PGCE in Secondary maths teaching at
Bristol Uni and taught in
Gloucestershire for 3 years. I am now

|
|
Oliver Firth (L 1986-91)
Since leaving BC I graduated from UMDS
(Guy's & St Thomas' Medical Schools),
having intercalated a BSc and somehow
managed a 1st in Experimental
Pathology. Completed my house jobs in
Hereford and Tunbridge Wells, then took
off to Europe in a VW van together with
a fine young Australian filly. She
talked me into a year in Brisbane and
here I still am, working as a
paediatric registrar. I spent a month
in Brighton last December, paid a
discrete visit to the college which
brought back floods of happy memories.
Managed to catch up with many mates
from my year over beers in good old
English pubs, and slip into familiar
nonsensical verbal diarrhoea, most
comforting after a year on the other
side of the globe. Would like to hear
from any old friends I've inadvertently
lost touch with on this email.
May the College continue to thrive and prosper!
|
|
James Tyrie (H 1978-83)

I was very sorry to have missed the
reunion (I loved the photos), but I
hope there will be another one soon.
