I was born out here in British Columbia, attended the College and returned here in 1949. I have had the opportunity to go back for a visit on a number of occasions and on one such occasion showed up for the black tie dinner at the R.A.C. in London.
I have had a few visits from fellow OB's the most recent one being Andrew Symonds and his wife. Not too long prior to that we had a visit from Eric Womersley (C. 1944-47) and his wife Ann with John Tabernacle (C. 1944-47) John spent many years flying out of Hong Kong for Cathay Pacific and during those years we kept in touch and visited back and forth. He now resides in Andorra.
We live very close to Victoria, British Columbia and a stones throw from the world renowned Butchart Gardens.
I will always welcome any OB's travelling this way. I am 74 now but thanks to all of the rugby, squash and physical training disciplines that I learned at the College I am still very fit and in excellent health !
The attached photo is that of our Cadet Corps in School House. Not so coincidentally shortly after this photo was taken and distributed Jerry capitulated!

I do actually come over to England for about 1 week every 2 months so I will try and come to an OBA event... I have a house in Chelsea, so will try and make one of the London drinks parties.

I am married with two children and work as a freelance PR consultant, producing magazines, publications, writing articles...
I am very happy to have left London after 20 years and would like to contact anyone who knew me when I was at Brighton College.
I think this website is excellent, and although I am not often in touch with Brighton College I have now contacted two friends from my time there.

She is also freelancing again as a journalist for newspapers and magazines and has just finished her third novel. Would love to hear from OBAs in the USA or visiting...
Tamzin Merchant (F. 2000-05) appears in the new film version of 'Pride & Prejudice'. She was cast as Georgiana, Darcy’s sister, after writing a letter to the casting director and explaining how she was perfect for the part. After meetings, Tamzin was indeed offered the role, even though she had no professional acting experience. The novice threw herself into the work, even learning to play the piano selections that Georgiana would be playing on-screen. She is about to start filming for the BBC’s ‘My Family and Other Animals’, to be shown at Christmas.

I have not been back to the College since I left. My only excuse is really one of distance - nothing has conspired to take me back to Brighton. I am not presently in contact with anyone from the College.
I have spent my working life, firstly in a family business for 25 years living mainly in Yorkshire and Northern Ireland and then in Financial Services with St. James's Place until my retirement in 2002. Nothing very outstanding to report I'm afraid. I have lived in Cambridgeshire for 32 years where I raised three children, two now married and have four grandchildren. I am still married!
I hope you have a splendid time on September 10 and I send warmest greetings to all fellow Old Brightonians in the Class of 55 and especially those from Bristol House.

I have been living in the USA for twelve years, mostly in the San Francisco Bay Area, greatly enjoying working in the biotech industry. I have been head of process development and manufacturing at a series of mostly venture capital-funded companies over this period.
I have been married to Joan, who I met while she was a biology graduate student at Stanford University, for three years. The closest we have come to children are two gorgeous Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs. Joan is a former professional road cyclist and for the last ten years I have been a competitive distance runner.
I have only really stayed in touch with Aidan Cruttenden, but would love to hear from any OBs or staff who live in or visit California or are involved in the biotech industry.

I dragged Helena through India, Malaysia, and then onto Australia for Christmas with my parents who had retired here. Our Son (Benjamin Jozef - BJ for all his life) was born in '82 in Canberra Australia. It really caught us out as we had just bought a big house and with 2 of us working we were looking forward to a grand life. however these little things are sent to try one

It has been quite (just a little) bumpy after I left Brighton College.... I went to Vancouver (Canada) to study Economics for three years. (And it really wasn't my field)..... Anyhow, after 3 yrs I quit and came back to London to study (what I always wanted to) Architecture in UEL.
After I earned my BSc (hon) (completed Part One out of Three) I went back to work in Hong Kong for 2 yrs (2001 - 2003). Then I came back to London to continue my Part Two (2 yrs Academic). Anyway, here I am now. Still a student.

The most important news is that Edmund, my son was born 12 August 2004 in London. A little brother for Alex and Annie. He wll be the last child. I am getting too bloody old for the sleepless nights. In January of this year I left the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia after ten years and too many trials. On 15 February 2005 I was appointed Senior Prosecuting Counsel at the new International Criminal Court, also in The Hague. I feel very privileged to be able to continue with this pioneering legal work.
A few contemporaries have sent me e-mails. Andy Kerr, Leconfield, contacts me from time to time. I keep promising to see him when I am back in the United Kingdom!

I was in Hamden in the eighties under my then name David Maurice Carter (my father also went there in the late forties early fifties - Brian John Carter, he sadly passed away at the beginning of January this year).
I only left with a few O levels and firstly did basic shop work to then work as a civil servant, however I always followed my passion of my music and subsequently built up a career through DJ'ing. I now have a massive discography, with a variety of production/remix credits (including but not limited to Depeche Mode, Gary Numan to other acts that you have probably not heard of that have been successful in the world charts... also doing work on The Mission Impossible (1) theme tune), I have DJ'd and broadcast on many networks, having international shows running from Brussels to Istanbul over a two year period, I even did a stint on Radio One back in 1997. I have also composed my own music which has also had success in the charts. Furthermore I continue to DJ all around the world every weekend and on average do 4-6 flights every week all over Europe, Japan, Australia/NZ,Canada, USA,and some of South America, a lot of European countries have been visited over 40 times each, but then have been traveling professionally for over ten years now, not bad for someone who was lent a music mixer by my chemistry teacher (Mr. Pritchard I believe)! Finally I have been lucky enough to be the subject of various documentaries, some shown on domestic networks like ITV and others on domestic networks in European countries with many front covers in music magazines and pieces/ articles in high brow papers including the FT, also I have been on Panorama with my anti hard drug stance. Right now I live partly in W.Sussex and Amsterdam.
I was also wondering what happened to an old school pal (John Wong) who also went to Hamden and shared the same study.

I've had a couple of West End leads (in Blood Brothers and - gulp - The Mousetrap!) and various theatre bits and pieces including four appearances as pantomime dames but recently I've been doing a lot of voice over work including audio books and I've just started to get some positive press. I also did a couple of voices on a cartoon short for Aardman/Film Council ("PIXELS") which should be released in the next few weeks and next week.
I recorded the unabridged version of Ben Elton's PAST MORTEM, a very enjoyable text to prep - funny, gruesome, filthy and a real page turner! Just hoping I can do it justice... The books I've recorded so far are really only found in public libraries so next time you're in one see if you can find one of mine...! I teach voice and speech at my old drama school, Webber Douglas, and at The London Drama School (set up by fellow OB Sarah Mann). I also teach public speaking and acting privately and have occasionally been a talking head on radio shows.
I hope to bring my wife Zoe to at least one of the forthcoming OB social events.
Old Brightonian Rachel Smith will be playing in one of the popular Autograph Concerts on Wednesday 23rd February 2005 at 7.45pm in the Great Hall Brighton College with Emma Ramsdale (Flute and Harp). The programme includes works by Donizetti, Ravi Shankar, Saint-Saens, Ibert, Ravel and Paul Lewis, another Old Brightonian. All OBs would be very welcome for what should be a thoroughly enjoyable concert.
Ian W Dodd (H. 1956-60) and Margaret (formerly Hollinshead), ex. staff, Head of Hawkhurst Court School for Dyslexic Children were married in the College, followed by a Blessing by Bill Peters in the College Chapel in February 2004. Together they have over 90 years association with Brighton College - possibly a record?
Congratulations to G A W Jarman (B. 1928-31) who celebrated his 90th birthday in November 2004. Geoffrey was in Bristol House and served in the RAF with distinction in 1940-45.
