OBFC Testimonial Match

Sunday, 06 May 2007

For the last 12 years Paul Lawrence and John Heal have played for the club with distinction and have been at the very heart of the club rise from division 8 to Premiership where they now play.

The testimonial match was played on the May Bank Holiday weekend. It was great to see not only players from the current team, but also many players who have represented the club over the last 12 years.

The Paul Lawrence XI Vs The John Heal XI was always going to be a grudge match, but as the Heal XI went on to to take a 3-1 victory, salt was rubbed firmly into the wounds as Ryan Heal found himself on the score sheet twice. Ryan hasn't found the back of the net for the OBs this decade!!
After the match all the players and supporters enjoyed a BBQ at the Lawrence's, where Paul and John were presented with their respective shirts, signed by all of the players.

The Club would like to thank Paul and John for all their efforts both on and off the pitch over the years, but don't write them off just yet, despite being affectionately known as Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon in the changing room, both of them continue to represent to OBs and give opponents quite literally half their age a run for their money.
