Membership of the Association

The Old Brightonians Association was founded in 1882 and continues to go from strength to strength providing over 5,000 Old Brightonians with a network of individuals who have the shared experience of an education at Brighton College.  It provides pupils past and present with an opportunity to socialise, network, play sports, enjoy the arts, share career advice and to enjoy continued collaboration with the school for the benefit of current and future pupils.

In 2010 the Old Brightonians Association was welcomed into the Development & Alumni Office at Brighton College and is now run as the ‘Old Brightonians’. Membership fees are now part of the College school fees, so that every pupil graduating becomes an 'Old Brightonian'. All past OBs are currently being ‘joined’ free of charge to the network as part of the College’s welcoming of its alumni into the College community.

The College has recently undertaken a project to add all former pupils to the alumni database and in 2012 we are hoping to establish contact with all those that we have lost contact with over the years. If you know of an Old Brightonian who has lost contact with us, please do let us know, or ask them to make contact either with the office or through the website.

The Aims of the Old Brightonians:

  1. To enable former pupils to keep in touch with one another, the College, and their former teachers.
  2. To provide regular social occasions, both formal and informal, and to help members who wish to organise their own events when possible.
  3. To support a wide range of clubs and societies, sports teams and activities which can be enjoyed by Old Brightonians.
  4. To help Old Brightonians to share their experiences and opportunities with one another.
  5. To strengthen the links between Brighton College and former pupils.

OB groups
In order to keep in touch with our ever-growing alumni, we have started identifying individuals to head up regional and country groups in areas where there is a thriving community of OBs. This term we have appointed representatives for the USA, Hong Kong and the Middle East, as well as founding the first of our regional groups in London. The commitment of these individuals’ time will be an invaluable resource for our office, as they help us to spread the net in engaging former pupils.

Alumni Relations Office:

The Development and Alumni Relations Office's primary role is to support the Head Master and Governors in realising the long-term plans of the school, by raising non-fee income, and by building a network of strong relationships among parents, staff, Old Brightonians and other friends and supporters.
