The Old Brightonian USA group held its fourth annual dinner at the beginning of April at the beautiful Lotos Club on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Around 20 OB's and their guests enjoyed a first class 5 course dinner in the company of the Headmaster, Richard Cairns and the Deputy Headmistress, Jo-Anne Riley.

The highlight of the formal part of the evening was undoubtedly the Headmaster's remarks in which he highlighted the school's continuing extraordinary achievements, and the school's impressive plans to expand its facilities and programs. All designed, of course, to ensure that Brighton College – our Brighton College – retains its place as, "The top co-educational school in England" (The Times).

Men and women from 6 decades were represented by a variety of OB's now resident in North America which now hosts over 100 of our former students. As we are now approaching at least "infancy", we are now at a point where the strengthening relationships with each other and the school provide a solid foundation advancement activities and fundraising. Our small but dedicated group of US OB's are proud to have assumed responsibility for the financing of the new Music Practice Room that we hope will be operational in the Fall. We will ensure that there is appropriate US representation its "inauguration!!"

Next year's dinner is already in the calendar. We will, once again, gather at the Lotos Club on Saturday 23rd May, 2015. As it's a Bank Holiday weekend in the UK, we expect to see many of our UK based friends and colleagues make the short trip to attend the event!! We also look forward to hosting the VIth Form Politics group during their visit to the US in October.

Each of us who attended what was a wonderful evening must thank Rebecca Findlay and the development team for their ongoing support of our association. We expect to host 2 informal regional events before next year's dinner – very likely one on the East Coast and one in California.

Any OB's living on the American side of the "pond" are strongly encouraged to contact any member of the development team at the College or Ingram Losner, US OB Ambassador at This email address is being protected from spambots.
