Brighton College Today

Compelling Lectures from Old Brightonians

Brighton College proudly carries the name of the most successful coeducational establishment in the UK. To reveal some of their memories of the late eighties and early nineties when girls were very much in the minority, Samantha Washington (nee Fox) (Fenwick 1989-93) and Tosin Ajayi (nee Akinluyi ) (Fenwick 1990-92) were invited to share their experiences: Tosin as a sixth former and Sam as a junior girl. It was a challenge at times, but one which they embraced, and they have been extremely successful in their careers and lives.

OBRFC vs Masters, Friday 7th March 2014

A man of few words, Steve Radojcic threw himself into the evening on Friday 7th March, holding court with his usual style and panache. He has asked the OB office to pass on his thanks to all those who helped organise the match, namely Teds Littlewood (Ry. 1990-95), Dan Heal (Ry. 1990-95), and Tom Aiken (Al. 2003-08). Special thanks to Stephanie Littlewood for coming up trumps with a cake, despite the fact it was neither Rado's birthday nor the end of season match against Hurstpierpoint.

Report: Oxbridge Dinner 2014 – Jesus College, Cambridge University

The now traditional annual Oxbridge Dinner was held at Jesus College, Cambridge University, to a guest list made up of current and past Oxbridge members, as well as notable members of the schools upper management. Jesus College is remarkable in both its size and ostentatious passageways and mazes that lead you through it. Once we found the Narnia-esque entrance to the hall, the delightful Rebecca Findlay greeted us. A drinks reception of prosecco saw the awkward formalities of having to make small talk with the Oxford clientele that much easier to bare. Needless to say, the comical late entrance of an Oxford geographer made the incessant photography a delight (Thank you William Sayer).

Luke Appleton (BCJS. 2005-08) completes the gruelling Tough Guy endurance event in support of the Bremer family

I travelled up to Tough Guy in Wolverhampton on Saturday 26th January with Jess and Mum, and two of my school mates, Yiannos and Conrad who were also doing the run. Dad (Joey Appleton (D. 1979-84)) bottled out as he was still in plaster recovering from ankle ligament surgery. Some excuse! We woke up on the Sunday morning to be greeted by the great British winter weather, high winds and pouring rain. Just what we wanted! Our bravado from the previous weeks now turned to apprehension as the race time grew ever nearer.
