Julian Withers (H. 1976-81) becomes Head Master at St. Christophers

I am delighted to be able to inform you that Julian Withers has been appointed as the next Headmaster of St Christopher's Prep School, Hove. This is from September 2013 and follows the appointment of the current Headmaster, Chris Wheeler (himself a former Housemaster of Leconfield House, as many of you will recall) to be Headmaster of the prestigious Hillcrest group of schools in Kenya.

Brighton College Under 15 Girls through to the National Indoor Cricket Final

Brighton College Under 15 Girls have been crowned South East Regional Champions and won a place in the National Finals of the Lady Taverners Indoor Cricket Competition, to be held at Lord's on 9th May.

Brighton College Careers Evening 2013

The 6th Form Careers Evening at the College on Thursday 25th April had a small but enthusiastic turn out, and the assembled pupils, parents and staff enjoyed a fascinating and informative evening on careers in investment banking and banking. Our speakers engagingly explained the various different roles in their industries and routes into them, and also on key aspects to be aware of in the financial sector when choosing different career paths. After the talk and an insightful Q&A session the group retired to the PAC for an opportunity to have an informal chat with our speakers.

Fenwick Fashion Show 2013

Brighton College's annual fashion event, The Fenwick Fashion Show, went off in grand style this year. The theme was James Bond, so tuxedos and stunning dresses were the order of the day.

Gerard "GP" Pearlberg (S. 1975-80) returns to the College - report

On the eve of the Brighton Marathon, on Friday 12th April we were lucky enough here at the College to have a visit from Gerard "GP" Pearlberg (BCJS 1971-75, S. 1975-80), who delivered an inspiring talk on "How to run Faster, Longer, Easier...". Cameron Dashwood, Head of School, who went on to run the marathon that weekend, was there, as were many of our pupils, parents, OBs and teachers and a handful of runners from Rockinghorse (who GP was running for himself that weekend).

Cricketing superstar Matt Prior (R. 1995-00) to give starter's orders at Brighton Marathon

Cricketing icon and Old Brightonian Matt Prior (R. 1995-00) will be the opener for this year's Brighton Marathon. The Sussex and England wicketkeeper has been unveiled as the official starter for the fourth Brighton Marathon later this month.

It is with great sadness that we report that the much loved Rev Canon C J (Bill) Peters (Chaplain, 1950-69) has died. The College held a Memorial to celebrate his life on Saturday 2nd March 2013.

Offers from Oxford and Cambridge: a new record

The pupils in the Brighton College Upper Sixth are receiving offers from their chosen universities at an unprecedented rate. Particular congratulations are due to the 23 pupils who have secured offers from Oxford and Cambridge. This represents a new record for Brighton College. These pupils had to navigate a more demanding range of additional admissions hurdles than at any other university, whilst also demonstrating a long-standing commitment to their chosen academic subject.

2012 Christmas message from our President

The College is currently enjoying unparalleled success under Head Master Richard Cairns and his team, something which we can all be proud of whenever we were at the College. It has somewhat put the College on the map as it were. It has also been a memorable year for the Old Brightonians, for completely different reasons. The year started with a memorial for Sgt Major Chris O'Connell when a few hundred OBs turned up on a freezing January morning to pay their respects to a man who had inspired and been a father figure to many. It had already been a year since Chris O'Connell died, but the effect that he had upon the pupils under his guidance was as palpable as ever.

Brighton College Entrepreneur Competition 2012

Monday 3rd December: the stage was set, the 'dragons' were seated and the cameras were rolling. The six finalists waited nervously for the chance to present their ideas to the judges and to the assembled L5, U5 and L6. Having battled through stiff competition the previous week in the heats, they knew that it was not going to be easy to reach the final three and claim the investment money.
