It was lovely to welcome back 7 of our recent leavers, now Old Brightonians, to the College for Field Day 2017. Our careers department organise a series of events throughout the year for our pupils, to assist them in making decisions about what they plan to do when they leave the College.
Following the introduction of our Law Conference in 2016, this year's conference took place on Thursday 4th May, which was attended by our current Sixth Form pupils and those from local state schools.
The Old Brightonians hosted a memorial service to celebrate the life of Bill Blackshaw (Head Master, 1971-87), on Friday 21st April 2017 in the College Chapel. A plaque was dedicated to the memory of Bill during this service, and was followed by a reception in the Sarah Abraham Recital Hall.
We are absolutely delighted to have been able to catch up with so many of our very missed OBs studying in London at our annual OB London Universities Dinner, which took place last Friday.
The 2014 / 2015 Fourth Form pupils and their families were each assigned one name from the Roll of Honour as part of our Lest We Forget Project. Their task was to discover all they could: where each was born, where he lived, when he was at Brighton College, and how and where he died.
Vanessa Cuddeford (Wi.1996-98) read Archaeology and Anthropology at Keble College, Oxford.
Vanessa has worked as a news reporter and presenter for ITV, ITN, BBC and Reuters. She also works with corporate clients making films and training people to speak confidently. After nearly 20 years away from Brighton, she recently moved back to the city with her partner and son and lives a stone’s throw from the college - handy because her son now attends the Pre-Prep school. Vanessa can sometimes be seen reading the news and reporting on BBC South East.
