We were very fortunate to have three successful Old Brightonians return to the College to share their knowledge and experience with current 6th form pupils last Thursday at a Media and Marketing careers evening. Jamie Thomson (Ha. 1972-75), writer, publisher and Dark Lord extraordinaire, spoke about writing as a career and the routes into getting published.

Andy Brown (Ch. 1978-81) then gave us an insight into the extreme complexities of digital media, the benefits of learning to use excel (which include a well-paid job at his company!) and the need to network.

Finally John Want (Ha. 1987-92) shared his journey from Brighton College pupil to UK Head of Marketing for Adelie foods, not a straight path but certainly an interesting one, going to show that you can get far doing what you enjoy. A huge thanks to Jamie, Andy and John for giving up their evening. We are always looking for OBs to share their experience with current pupils as well as younger OBs, whether that is via careers talks, work experience or just connecting on LinkedIn.
