SOAS Development Studies student, Lara, was asked to speak at the Credit Suisse INSPIRE event due to her academic focus on development and development finance, as well as her personal background of being raised in a developing country.

Lara spoke about how regulated financial markets, and most importantly, targeted foreign direct investments, are the key to unlocking unprecedented green growth in the developing world - crucial to both the independent states in the global south and to the health of our planet.

She discussed how international investments are important in the Middle East North Africa region for mass reconstruction, and how that would benefit all parties involved.

What a fantastic opportunity for Lara to share with the banking sector the non-profit elements of financial markets, and the social and welfare gains that can be taken from a collaboration between the non-profit and financial sectors.
