Mark Simmonds (Al. 1976 - 81) has enjoyed a successful career in the field of management training and he has worked with some of the world’s largest companies, including Unilever, HSBC, GSK, Tesco, Hitachi, ABInBev and Astra Zeneca.
However, throughout his life, Mark has struggled with anxiety, and in his late thirties, he experienced a nervous breakdown brought on by work-related stress. This culminated in four months’ sick leave and a failed attempt on his own life.
Mark has wanted to share his experiences of mental ill health with others and during the last six years he has had 3 books published on the topic of stress and wellbeing – Breakdown and Repair (2019); Beat Stress at Work (2022); How the Successful Deal with the Stressful (2025) – available now on Amazon.co.uk.
In his 60-minute talk at 7pm on Tuesday 14th October, 'How the successful deal with the stressful' he will cover three main topics:
1. How to stop good stress from turning bad...or ugly;
2. How to make career choices which are good for your mental health;
3. How to pick a portfolio of wellbeing strategies that work for you.
During his talk, he will also explain how successful people from the worlds of business, sport, politics and entertainment practice wellbeing for peak performance.
