Happy Throwback Thursday everyone!

This week, we rewind the clock to May 1984, when the College Quad was home to a menagerie of sculptures by John Skelton. These amazing sculptures formed part of an exhibition at the Burstow Gallery, held as part of that year’s Brighton Festival.

A reminder of Skelton’s exhibition can still be seen on campus today: the bronze diver on the lawn outside of the Chapel, captured mid-dive into a pool that was especially sunk for the exhibition, has remained at the school ever since after it was kindly donated to us after auction.

You can read more about the Skelton exhibition, and that year’s Brighton Festival, in the 1984 issue of The Brightonian Magazine.
