Job's friend Shanika Nayagam (Le. 1998-2003) writes:

Job Philip Muriuki (Sc. 2001 - 03) died on 2 April 2026, aged 41.

Job, or JP as he was affectionately known, was raised in Kenya and came to the United Kingdom for his higher education. He attended Brighton College for his Sixth Form (2001-2003) and was a boarder in School House. He was an active member of College life, including the Football and Squash teams, and he was a school prefect. During his time at Brighton College he was known for his great sense of humour and zest for life; he arrived with his childhood friends, Ashish and Sagar Shah, but left with many life-long friendships.

He then read Engineering at Downing College in Cambridge (2003-2007), alongside fellow Old Brightonian Shanika Nayagam (Le. 1998-2003). After graduation, his career took him first to London, where he worked at Marakon Consulting, before his heart drew him back to Africa in 2010. There, he joined Centum Investment, leading its private equity division and serving as a Director on the boards of listed companies, including Longhorn Publishers and Coca Cola Bottlers. In 2017, JP co-founded Momentum Credit, part of the Platcorp Group. He later joined Platcorp Group as Executive Director in 2023, a role he held with distinction until his passing in April 2026.

Back home in Kenya, JP married his long-time childhood friend Rebecca and love of his life. Together, they built a beautiful family and raised three children: Zion, and the twins Eden and Eliana. Away from work, JP was an avid squash player with a competitive spirit that matched his professional drive. He loved the outdoors, whether summiting mountains or making memories with his family along the Kenyan coastline.

In 2024, JP was diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis, a rare autoimmune liver condition. He faced it with the same courage that defined him – undergoing a successful liver transplant, then navigating the complications that followed with resilience and grace. He fought until his very last day, 2 April 2026.

JP leaves behind a legacy written in the lives he shaped, the family he cherished, and the warmth he brought to all who knew him. He is missed deeply by his wife Rebecca, his children, and all the close friends he made over the years.
