A long-standing member of the Old Brightonian sporting community and a much-loved figure at his local Horsham Trinity Cricket Club, Tony Lewis (Sc. 1978-83), known affectionately as “Tiger” and “Papa T,” passed away earlier this year.
Tony was a familiar face to many, having represented the Old Brightonians with distinction in both rugby and cricket for several decades. Off the field, he was admired as a kind, committed teammate and an encouraging mentor to younger players. His contribution to the life and spirit of the clubs he played for went well beyond his impressive cricket stats -although 200 wickets and nearly 1,000 runs are testament to a sporting life well lived.
To honour Tony’s memory, friends, family, and teammates are coming together for a celebratory T10 Cricket Day at Horsham Trinity CC on Sunday 7 September.
Dubbed “T10 for Papa T Day”, the event starts at 11am at Horsham Trinity Cricket Club, Victory Road, Horsham, Sussex. RH12 2JF.
This is a day to come together, share memories, enjoy a few overs, and raise a glass to a man who gave so much to the game and the people around him.
What to Expect:
Whether you knew him on the pitch or off it, this promises to be a day of community, camaraderie, and celebration—exactly as Tony would have wanted.
