On March 28th 2025 a group of Old Brightonians ascended Pen y Fan in the Brecons.
Smiling as they walked, a group of seven OBs recently summited Pen y Fan, and possibly set a new record for the highest Old Brightonian reunion in the process.
The hikers met at Brighton College in the 1980s and have remained close friends ever since. Friendships were forged on the college pitches, and the group are proud to have stayed in contact and shared many important moments of their lives together. The group try to meet annually for a slap-up Christmas meal, and at other times of the year to enjoy sailing, canoeing, watching rugby and the occasional BBQ.
Pictured here on the summit are: Geoff Kelly (Ry. 1982 - 87), Luke Littlewood (Ry. 1979 - 87), Sam Swanson (Ry. 1982 - 87), Phil Manzi (Ry. 1982 - 87), Steven Rice (Al. 1980 - 87), Jonathan Woodcock (Ch. 1985 - 87) and Martin Steggals-Davis (Al. 1975 - 79).
At the request of Sam Swanson, honourable mentions sadly not pictured here, but an important part of the group in a support capacity, go to Matthew Quarendon (Al. 1985 - 87), who pulled a hamstring the evening before during an impromptu game of rugby, and Jason Moul (Sc. 1985 - 87) who succumbed to the rigours of the ascent and did not summit. Rest up and better luck next time chaps!
