Since leaving Brighton College, Christian Weir (Ry. 2011-21) has taken the passion for art he developed during his schooldays in a very interesting direction. He has launched Sole Statement, a bespoke footwear brand, specialising in hand-painted, one-of-a-kind shoes and trainers.
What began as custom designs for individual clients has quickly evolved into some high-profile statement pieces that have generated quite a buzz already. Christian’s work has been worn by England rugby international and OB Marcus Smith (Le. 2011-17), NBA superstar Steph Curry, and most recently has led to collaborations with luxury shoe retailers — painting footwear for clients that include Hollywood legend Sylvester Stallone.
Alongside his efforts to grow Sole Statement's profile, Christian is currently studying for a Masters in Physiotherapy, balancing academic study with the creative demands of running a rapidly expanding brand. Looking ahead, he hopes to continue pushing boundaries and making a lasting impact in the bespoke footwear industry.
