Congratulations to OB Dan Lategan (Sc. 2022–24), who has signed a three-year professional contract with Worcestershire County Cricket Club.
Dan’s journey from Brighton College sixth-form scholar to professional cricketer is nothing short of remarkable. Having worked behind the bar at New Road earlier this year while playing for the club’s academy and second XI, the 19-year-old batter now finds himself a key part of Worcestershire’s plans for the future.
“It’s a dream come true,” Dan said, reflecting on a whirlwind summer that included a standout 78 in the Metro Bank One Day Cup semi-final.
Worcestershire Head Coach Alan Richardson praised Dan’s performances saying, “Dan has earned this opportunity through his performances and his attitude, both on and off the field. He’s a talented young cricketer who’s shown he can compete at Second XI level, and we believe he has all the ingredients to succeed in the professional game.”
CEO Ashley Giles described Dan as a player with “huge potential.”
We wish Dan continued success as he begins this exciting new chapter in his career.
