Girls Lift Girls is a women's fitness community co-founded by OB Gemma Ashworth (Ch. 2007-16). It is a global community aiming to redefine strength, specifically for women in the gym. Created to build confidence and community among women who train, it is a movement that is about more than physical strength; it’s about breaking down stereotypes, empowering women to take up space, and proving that muscles and femininity are not mutually exclusive.

At its core, Girls Lift Girls encourages women to embrace their strength, literally and figuratively. Whether you're just picking up a barbell for the first time or chasing a new personal best, the Girls Lift Girls community provides a supportive space where women can train without judgment, build real confidence, and connect with others while breaking the same barriers.

Gemma told us about the inspiration behind the company: "When I was at school, I loved dance and netball. I represented the school across sports and the county and was in 13 dance shows at the college. On reflection, I craved being small and petite to fit the image of a dancer, whilst always feeling too big in my pursuit of becoming an athlete. As I grew up, being around like-minded, athletic women, the focus has changed from what my body looked like to what it can do."

Girls Lift Girls has grown dramatically since its beginning in June 2024 and has created communities across Dubai, Hong Kong, Brisbane and Sydney. Girls Lift Girls hosts free community events to provide a space of education and celebration of strength in fitness training and has been supported by global brands such as GYMSHARK, WHOOP and LSKD.

"We want all women to walk into the gym with confidence, grow muscles with pride and lift each other up in every sense of the word. As one woman grows stronger, we all do."
