We are thrilled to share the exciting news that alumna Georgia Collard‑Watson (Ch. 2002-2007) Principal Associate Architect, Grimshaw Global has been appointed to the new Brighton & Hove Seafront Development Board.
Launched in July 2025, and chaired by Lord Bassam of Brighton, the Board brings together experts from various areas of expertise including architecture, tourism, urban design, and heritage. Its mission is to shape a forward-looking vision for Brighton’s iconic seafront—spanning from Palace Pier to the Marina—by championing thoughtful regeneration, securing investment, enhancing community engagement, and ensuring a future-proof, accessible infrastructure for many years to come.
Georgia’s architectural expertise and design sensibility are perfectly aligned with the Board’s aims to enhance landmarks such as Black Rock and Madeira Terrace.
Her selection reflects the college’s commitment to developing professionals who contribute meaningfully to the public realm. We have every faith that Georgia will help promote sustainable urban solutions, and bring fresh ideas to one of the UK’s most cherished coastal environments.
The Board is set to meet this autumn to prioritise seafront projects and explore some of the best practices from other cities. This initiative marks a pivotal step forward in ensuring Brighton’s seafront remains vibrant, resilient, and sustainable for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
Many congratulations Georgia. We look forward to celebrating the transformative impact she—and the Board—will have on our community and coastal heritage.
