Old Brightonian James Chisholm (Du. 2011-13) has announced his retirement from professional rugby, bringing to a close an outstanding career that has spanned almost two decades with Premiership side Harlequins.

A former captain of the Brighton College 1st XV, James made his senior debut for Harlequins at the age of just 19 and went on to establish himself as one of the club's most respected and dependable players. A powerful and consistent presence in the back row, he became the definition of a one-club man, making more than 100 appearances in the famous quarters and playing a key role in a Premiership-winning squad.

James' rise through the game was evident from an early age. Shortly after leaving Brighton College, he represented England Under-20s and helped the national side secure the Junior World Championship, underlining his status as one of the country's most promising young forwards.

Over the course of his professional career, James earned widespread admiration not only for his performances on the pitch, but also for the professionalism, resilience and humility he displayed throughout his time in the game. His commitment to his team, his work ethic and his leadership have made him an exceptional role model for aspiring players, both within the Harlequins pathway and beyond.

As he steps away from professional rugby, James leaves behind a legacy of dedication and loyalty that few modern players can match. His achievements will always be a source of pride for the Brighton College community, and his journey serves as a reminder of what can be achieved through perseverance, character and hard work.

We congratulate James on a remarkable career and wish him, and his family, every success and happiness in the next chapter of life beyond rugby.
