Many congratulations to Julian Patmore (Ry. 1979-81), whose first novel, Prey for Saint Francis, has recently been published by Brae Books.

Set in and around Lewes and Brighton, in locations familiar to local readers, the novel follows a determined police investigation into a series of killings carried out by an assassin acting on behalf of a shadowy organisation known as The Watchers. Their targets are individuals accused of cruelty to animals who, in the eyes of the group, have escaped proper justice.

The story centres on DCI Justin Palmer, who finds himself racing against time to stop a killer described as possessing military expertise, surgical precision and a talent for disguise.

The book has already attracted positive comment, with crime writer Alex Walters describing it as "A thrilling police procedural, dripping with authenticity, with a dramatic and unexpected climax".

Julian tells us that becoming a published author has been a lifelong ambition, making the launch of Prey for Saint Francis a particularly satisfying milestone. We wish Julian every success with the book.
