This summer, Lexie Williams (Wi. 2013-15) helped two England Touch Rugby teams to European titles, first as head coach of the England Senior Mixed side in Vichy and then as assistant coach to the England Girls U18 team at the European Youth Touch Championships in Warwick.
In July, Lexie (pictured here back row, second from the right) guided the England Senior Mixed team to gold at the European Touch Championships in Vichy, France. It marked her first campaign as Head Coach of an England side and culminated in a European title for the team. England's Senior Mixed side secured the gold medal after defeating Germany 9-7 in the final, having also come through a dramatic semi-final against France.
The success continued in August when Lexie served as Assistant Coach to the England Girls U18 team at the European Youth Touch Championships held at the University of Warwick. England claimed another gold medal, defeating France 9-1 in the final as part of a tournament in which England won a remarkable six of the nine championship categories on offer.
Reflecting on the achievements, Lexie shared that leading the Senior Mixed side to European gold in her first appointment as an England head coach was an especially exciting milestone.
Lexie's two European titles reflect a remarkable period of success at international level, and we are delighted to celebrate her achievements. Congratulations Coach! We hope there are plenty more titles to come.
