Lizzie Korczak (Ch. 2012-21) has been selected for the British Athletics Olympic Futures Programme for the 2025–26 season, marking a significant step as she transitions from collegiate competition towards senior and professional athletics.

The programme recognises emerging talent with the potential to compete at the highest level, and Lizzie’s inclusion follows a breakthrough year in her javelin career. In March 2025, she produced a sensational throw of 58.10m at a university meet in Florida, smashing the Sussex AA senior women’s javelin record by almost six metres. The previous mark of 52.43m, set in 2009, had stood for 15 years. Remarkably, Lizzie surpassed 55 metres with every throw in the competition, improving her personal best by nearly eight metres and moving her to seventh on the UK all-time list.

Now competing in the USA for the University of Iowa under coach Ray Robinson, Lizzie continues to build on a track record of success that began during her time at Brighton College. She was English Schools javelin champion at U15 level in 2017, won the U17s in 2018 and the U20 championship in 2021, establishing herself early as one of the country’s outstanding young throwers.

Speaking recently about her selection for the Futures Programme, Lizzie expressed her gratitude to British Athletics for their belief in her potential, as well as to the many coaches and supporters who have helped guide her journey so far.

“I would also like to sincerely thank everyone who has supported and guided me throughout this process and am excited for the opportunities ahead to continue progressing at the highest level.” she said.

We wish Lizzie all the best as she looks ahead to the next phase of her development and trains hard to progress on the national and international stage.
