 900x1046 Marcus Smith 200

Marcus Smith (Le. 2011-17) reached a significant milestone in his rugby career last weekend, when he made his 200th appearance for Harlequins.

The England international marked the occasion in fitting fashion, producing a Player of the Match performance as Harlequins secured a 33-15 victory over Saracens at The Stoop. Marcus was instrumental throughout the match and scored the opening try as Quins claimed their first Premiership win of the season.

Following the final whistle, family and friends gathered to celebrate the landmark. Brighton College Director of Rugby, Nick Buoy, who coached Marcus during his time at the College, joined Olympic decathlon champion Daley Thompson in presenting him with a commemorative rugby ball to mark the occasion.

The presentation brought together two figures who have supported Marcus at different stages of his journey. Mr Buoy, representing the College and all those that helped nurture his rugby development during his formative years, and Olympian Daley Thompson, who  has worked with Marcus more recently on the speed and acceleration that have become such distinctive features of his game.

This amazing career milestone reflects not only Marcus' talent, but his consistency, resilience and commitment over many seasons. Since making his senior debut for Harlequins as an 18-year-old, Marcus has established himself as one of the leading figures in English rugby, earning international honours while remaining a central figure for his club.

Huge congratulations!
