Woody Cook (Le. 2008-17) lit up The Manor House in Tunbridge Wells last Friday night with a headline set that delivered exactly what fans came for: unpredictable energy, funky mayhem, and a genre-hopping soundtrack that kept the crowd moving until 3am.
The 24-year-old DJ, whose style blends breakbeats, funk, and anything-goes party energy, topped the bill, drawing in a packed crowd and marked his return to the venue by popular demand.
Known for his high-energy performances and unpredictable track selections, Woody has been steadily carving out his own lane in the UK music scene. While his family roots in dance music are well known of course, it is his own musical instincts that are earning him attention.
His sound draws from an eclectic range of influences, with nods to The Chemical Brothers and DJ Yoda sitting comfortably alongside deep cuts from Quantic, Little Simz, Aretha Franklin, and Slow Thai. The result is a chaotic blend of styles that somehow holds together, that has been described as part rave, part funk party and part sonic experiment.
The Tunbridge Wells performance followed a busy summer for Woody, who is still based in Brighton, and recently appeared at major summer festivals including Glastonbury and Beat-Herder. Woody also runs the independent music label, Truth Tribe, which showcases emerging young talent like Dirty Harry.
